ZAPPA!
Frank Zappa is one of the few names that excites both rock, jazz, and classical musicians and enthusiasts, lifting the corners of their mouths with joy. He was a cross-genre phenomenon, and his music is free and imaginative, as he himself described his aesthetic: "anything, anytime, anyplace with no reason at all."
This concert program focuses primarily on Zappa's instrumental music, which encapsulates most of Zappa's facets and ambitions—it's orchestral, energetic, satirical, witty, and virtuosic ensemble music.
For the performer, it’s a rather athletic challenge. For the listener it's a powerful surge of energy and a collage of different styles.
For this program the best Estonian musicians from classical and jazz music scenes will join their forces: performers include the awardwinning singer/songwriter Vaiko Eplik, singer and multi-insturmentalist Valter Soosalu, Ludensemble in an expanded formation with all-star Estonian jazz team: Kirke Karja, Bianca Rantala, Peedu Kass, Jaak Sooäär and many more. The artistic director and conductor is Kaspar Mänd.
